Hi, I’m Lindsey, educator, founder and advisor-investor for growing boutique education businesses 👋
Lindsey's VCE Tutoring is where it all started: a specialist English Literature tutoring company that grew to seven figures a year, a 1,000+ annual student waitlist, and a 95% retention rate, all fully bootstrapped. Though it's now 30 tutors strong, I still teach.
I've always been headstrong as a champion of specialists, because specialisation is where depth is built — and depth is what makes us human (and not an AI chatbot, cough). That's why, across everything I do, whether teaching or venture building, I stay close to the craft.
But I also want the work to multiply. I want to directly impact more than the ten students I mentor each year, and to inspire more than 250. The answer, I've found, isn't scaling boutique businesses into mass producers of short-term outcomes — it's advising and investing in brands that hero the human behind them (hence, the founding of Paperbacked).
Email me.
My backgroundLaw taught me the rules of the game, literature taught me to be discerning, and education is teaching me how people come to understand.
I hold a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Literature, and I'm completing a Master of Arts at Teachers College, Columbia University in Learning, Technology and Media. If you’d met me IRL, it’d all make sense. Law taught me the rules of the game, how systems work at the macro level, and where the leverage sits when you want to change them. Literature taught me to be discerning, it's the history of our consciousness and culture, and close reading is really a training in judgement. And my MA is teaching me how people come to understand: the learning sciences behind how minds actually build knowledge, and what technology does to that process, where five years of teaching thousands of students gets pressure-tested against the evidence.
Chances are, you're here for one of three reasons
I'm a student
1
I founded Lindsey's VCE Tutoring (LVCET) in 2021 and never stopped teaching. Five years on, we've supported over 2,000 students — and I still spend my weeks in essays, texts, and the messy, brilliant work of helping students think.
The track record:
15 perfect raw 50 study scores in VCE English
Graduates achieving 99.95 ATARs and direct admission into Law, Medicine, Harvard, Columbia, and Oxford
10,000+ pages of original resources written
If you're a high achiever looking for a mentor who takes your ambitions seriously (and will push you past what feels comfortable), I'd love to hear from you.
I'm an education leader
2
I work with schools, EdTech companies, and education organisations that want more than an opinion — they want someone who's built curriculum, scaled a teaching team, and studied the learning science behind both.
Roles I take on:
Advisory board member — for education businesses and EdTech ventures that want the founder's view and the classroom's at the same table. I currently advise Wrise Academy and The Clover Studio, and back ventures through Paperbacked.
Instructional designer & learning consultant — curriculum architecture, programme design, and the pedagogy behind the product. Grounded in five years designing curriculum and resources that get used by students every year and in the learning sciences work of my MA at Teachers College, Columbia University.
Professional development & training — practical, working-session PD for teaching teams, from AI literacy for tutors to curriculum design.
I'm a founder
3
LVCET grew from a one-tutor operation to a seven-figure company — fully bootstrapped, with $0 of outside investment, and tutor retention that's unheard of in this industry (we've never lost a tutor to a competitor). I made most of the mistakes so you don't have to.
In 2025 I founded Paperbacked, a venture studio that co-founds, builds, and backs education ventures with exceptional teachers and founders — the academies, tuition firms, and EdTech companies they've always dreamed of building. We're currently building Wrise Academy and The Clover Studio, with more launching across APAC in 2026.
What I work on with founders:
0-1 systems — turning teaching expertise into a real business, from brand to curriculum to first clients
Growth without compromise — scaling while protecting quality, originality, and soul
The unglamorous stuff — pricing, retention, hiring, curriculum, operations
Education businesses are different. The spreadsheet logic of other industries breaks here — and the "irrational" decisions are often the ones students remember you by. I work with founders who understand that, or want to.
I'm biased towards people who care about the craft. If your growth plan involves cutting corners on teaching quality, we won't get along. If you want to build something that lasts — let's talk.
